Oriented Brown Granites

Minerals of the stone form the texture or the pattern we see. The pattern of brown granites are either:

• Oriented - Minerals are distributed according to a certain orientation or direction.
• Homogeneous - Minerals are distributed evenly for a uniform structure.

The most well known varieties of oriented brown granites are quarried in Canada and Brazil.

They often have large egg shaped, dark brown and sometimes reddish crystals embedded in a black to gray groundmass. The brown crystals are parallel to the bedding plane - they flow in one direction.

There are varieties that have the same aesthetic characteristics as Type 3 homogeneous brown granite (color, pattern and grain), but their crystals are isorientated so the stone has an oriented pattern.

The main variations in oriented brown granites are the brown color of the crystals. Look at how uniform the pattern of the stone is. Variations in the distribution of the crystals affect the uniformity of the stone's pattern.

Oriented Brown Granites are used on both interiors and exteriors for wall facings, flooring, and luxury furnishings.
